Master Plan for Higher Education in the Midwest: A Roadmap to the Future
of the Nation鈥檚 Heartland," at a March 31 program co-sponsored by the
CIC.

The report -- written by Dr. James J. Duderstadt, president emeritus at
the University of Michigan and a current professor there -- calls for increased collaboration amongst universities in the region, which may help reduce dependence on state government resources.
"The states really don't have the resources to do very much right now," Mr. Duderstadt told the in an interview on Wednesday. "They're in a very reactive mode right now."
The event also included a discussion with a distinguished panel of higher education leaders including University of Illinois President Michael J. Hogan.
